My journey
Thank you so much for stopping by; I am so glad you're here! My name is Mary Polanco, a woman of many passions. I think life is too interesting to just stick with one! I grew up in Pennsylvania and the youngest of eight children. After turning 18, and going to college with no degree plan in mind, I decided to join the United States Air Force. The Air Force took me around the world from assignments in England, Korea, and Hawaii, to deployments in the Middle East. I worked as both a Security Forces member (think law enforcement) and a medic during my time on Active Duty.
But it wasn't until I got a chance to be an instructor, teaching leadership and management courses, that I truly found a passion for both areas (leadership AND teaching). This led me to completing both my Bachelorettes Degree and Master's Degree in Strategic Leadership.
I had a few other jobs during my career leading organizations, and even had a one-year stint working on Capitol Hill as a staffer (hence why I'm not currently pursuing a career in politics). But my last job was as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Air Force's Resilience Office out of the Pentagon. This is where I found my next passion; living well.
Along my journey, I started a YouTube channel for my crafting hobby, Mary Polanco Designs, and have had so much fun building connections from across the globe. We get to play with stamps and ink, and find ways to give back in the best way we can. Twice a year I host a fundraiser to give us the opportunity to
